A Swiss army knife for the Buccaneers

Demetric Felton, UCLA

Felton doesn’t really count due to the fact that he could split time between running back and receiver at the NFL, but that makes him all the better as a prospect. The Buccaneers need a great third-down back, and Felton would give them the best of both worlds.

While the Buccaneers love their three-receiver sets with Godwin, Evans, and Brown, Felton would give the Bucs an additional option in the fourth role or in the backfield with Brady.

The saying may be true that a jack of all trades is a master of none, but the Buccaneers don’t need a master in this role. All they need is consistency. Felton has proven that he can catch passes out of the backfield, split out, and run the ball up the middle, and that is all Tampa needs from this pick.

From a running back standpoint, players like Alvin Kamara line up out wide from time to time with decent success. Felton would necessitate a defensive back in coverage rather than a linebacker, and his abilities as a route runner will help him in these scenarios too.

Felton as a hybrid may be too good for the Buccaneers to pass up if he is available, but other teams should start to show interest as well as the draft grows closer.
