The Buccaneers still need help on defense in the 2021 NFL Draft

Milton Williams, IDL, Louisiana Tech

Much like Moore was a Swiss army knife on the offensive side of the ball, Milton Williams brings a depth of talent to the defense. Williams is a defensive lineman that can line up in multiple spots, and this diversity in talent could be a dream come true for a defensive coordinator like Todd Bowles.

Based on size, Williams is the best fit as an end in a 4-3. At 284 pounds and without a ton of experience dropping into shallow coverage, Williams probably isn’t an outside linebacker in the current offense, but his build is similar to that of Jason Pierre-Paul.

If JPP could get picks and do his job in coverage, Williams has the talent and athleticism to do the same with the right training.

On the other hand, Williams could bring the most on the inside of the line. Ndamukong Suh is getting older, and bringing in a smaller pass rusher to take advantage of reduced blocking could be dominant in even and odd fronts.

If Williams were to put on about 10 pounds, which wouldn’t be out of the question for a rookie, he could step into Suh’s position down the road and a matchup nightmare alongside Vita Vea.

Williams would work best with a defense that doesn’t try to force him into a single role, and the Buccaneer defense with Todd Bowles looks like the best bet to reach his full potential.
