Tom Brady could leave a massive legacy for the Buccaneers.

Tom Brady is not the first quarterback to wear the number 12 for the Buccaneers, but he could very well be the last. The honor of having a jersey retired is usually reserved for players that spend a large portion of their career with the same team, but Brady is different.

While there are some other names that assuredly need to go in first, Tom Brady could be a candidate to make it into the Bucs’ Ring of Honor down the road.

Brady doesn’t have the longevity, although there is still time for him to sign another extension. Still, what he has accomplished in one season has been enough to turn heads. Imagine what Brady’s legacy would be if he keeps up this current pace.

The Buccaneers can’t rule Tom Brady out yet

The Brady signing alone wasn’t what turned this franchise around, but it was a huge part. The attitude around the locker room changed like a light going on, and the results are impossible to ignore.

One Super Bowl win and MVP is a good start, but if Brady keeps this pace, there is a real case to make that the number 12 deserves to sit in Raymond James Stadium, enshrined forever.

As it stands, Brady shows no sign of slowing down, and the Buccaneers are still the best team in the league. A fantastic offseason so far had the team in position to remain the best in the league, and another Super Bowl appearance is not out of the question.

If Brady is the first Bucs quarterback ever to lead his team to two Super Bowls, that is a great place to start in having his number retired, but there is still more to do.

Tampa Bay is one of the last teams in the league to never to have an MVP. Brady would assuredly be a long shot to earn this honor at this point in his career, but it isn’t impossible. He already made a decent case last season, and with the team getting better, the opportunities for recognition increase.

Two Super Bowl appearances and an MVP should be plenty to get Brady’s name up along the likes of the Buccaneer greats. The tenure in Tampa is assuredly the biggest knock against him, but Brady is the GOAT for a reason. This time with the Bucs will leave a legacy that lasts a lifetime, just like the other names in that prestigious group.
