Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Final seven round mock draft
Christian Barmore – DT, Alabama
With the 32nd pick in the first round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Christian Barmore, an interior defensive lineman from Alabama.
Perhaps not the pick that many were expecting, or maybe it was, always hard to tell when it comes to the draft. Anyway, the Buccaneers have the luxury of picking not only the best player available on their board but also picking whoever they want and nobody would really bat an eye. They’re literally drafting for depth and potential future starters like a baseball or hockey farm system.
Barmore should be there at 32. There’s no denying his talent, and strength, but reported coachability efforts have surfaced which may scare some teams off. For what it’s worth, they are reports that his college coach Nick Saban has vehemently denied.
With Ndamukong Suh getting up there in age, Barmore would be a perfect eventual replacement for him and a compliment to William Gholston. Barmore is a huge man with strong hands, and surprisingly quick for his size. He would fit in very well and if you’re fortunate enough to have rotational defensive line pieces, it’s all the better. If the Bucs can add that wrinkle to their defense watch out.
