Trey Sermon – RB, Ohio State

With the 95th overall pick, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Trey Sermon, running back from THE Ohio State University.

Another Buckeye. This would be a real blessing if he fell this far, but it isn’t impossible. You’re probably thinking, running back isn’t a position of need for this team, and you’d be right.

Take this into account though. Yes, the Buccaneers have a crowded running back room. Leonard Fournette was re-signed, Giovanni Bernard was brought in, and Ronald Jones and Ke’Shawn Vaughn will also be back. With the exception of Vaughn, they are all set to be free agents next season.

If the Buccaneers are able to land a back like Sermon, whilst using a third-round pick and no major capital to do so, his presence wouldn’t put as much pressure on the team to re-sign all of these running backs, as they would have a fresh pair of legs to carry the backfield load going forward in Sermon. In 2021, he would give Tom Brady and company another toy to play with, and with the crowded backfield, he wouldn’t have to play as many snaps, thus being able to save his body. This would be a huge value pick.
