Xavien Howard and the Buccaneers could be a perfect fit.
Of all the offseason moves the Buccaneers could make, adding Xavien Howard through a trade is the longest of long shots. Tampa already loves their young group of corners that are starting to blossom, and there isn’t any money to add a player as expensive as Howard, but good teams don’t let that stop them.
The main goal for the Bucs right now is winning another Super Bowl. Bringing back all of the starters from last season was a great start to keeping this team set on the right path, but getting complacent is never how teams should undertake a task like this.
The Bucs already have Carlton Davis, who is one of the best man corners in the NFL, and Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean, who are great at splitting the number two and nickel role, but Xavien Howard would still be an unreal addition.
There would have to be a ton of moving pieces in a trade like this, and the Buccaneers would most likely have to work on Howard’s contract, but this front office would be the one to make it happen when it looks all but impossible.
If back-to-back Super Bowls and beyond really are the goals for this franchise, it’s hard to completely rule Howard out until he is officially off the table.
