Giovani Bernard deserves this season with the Buccaneers
Of all the players on the Buccaneers that deserve some recognition, Giovani Bernard may deserve some love the most. After a long and loyal career with the Bengals, Bernard is well-loved amongst the fans of the team he spent so much time with, but his NFL recognition is still not where it should be.
Bernard was a very successful running back on an inept Bengals team. It doesn’t matter who you are; if Andy Dalton is your quarterback, it is going to be hard to win much in the NFL. This isn’t a sweeping indictment against Dalton, but the history of the Bengals speaks for itself.
Even after playing with Dalton, rookie quarterbacks, and horrific offensive lines, Bernard has produced at a consistent level since 2013 with very few starts. Regardless of the touches and other factors, Bernard is a warrior, which is why he deserves every ounce of success he will find with the Buccaneers.
Tampa currently has the best offensive line, quarterback, and defense that Bernard has ever played with. Brady in five years will still probably be better than any quarterback that Bernard has caught passes from, and the offensive line’s dominant form will be a breath of fresh air to the veteran back.

While there are several other players to share reps with in the backfield, Bernard has been able to perform well in much worse conditions in the past, so it should be a no-brainer for Bernard to post career numbers in 2021.
