A running back moving up the ranks for the Buccaneers

Ke’Shawn Vaughn

Did you really think we would go this long without mentioning Vaughn? The fourth Buccaneer running back was the primary rushing option for Tampa in their first preseason game, and there is no reason to think that will change now.

Whether it is on special teams or on offense, Vaughn is starting to turn heads after a relatively quiet rookie season. Arians has been very fair on Vaughn for his highs and lows so far in Tampa, and the recent weeks have been defined by far more highs than lows.

While Vaughn is the fourth back as of now, there is a legitimate chance that he ends the 2021 regular season in a position of much more prominence. If Vaughn can keep running the ball like he has and put together some decent reps on passing plays, he could step into the role as the second runner on the depth chart and the second receiver at the position behind Giovani Bernard.

Vaughn will have to prove that he can maintain his pace to earn a role for the regular season, but if he keeps his current pace up, he may get looks as the starting running back for the Bucs in 2022.

These games may get boring at times, but every rep for Vaughn during this bout will help make his future in Tampa more clear.
