The Buccaneers have a new QB3

Ryan Griffin

We’ve been saying this day should come for years, so the decision to move on from Ryan Griffin should surprise no one. The Bucs had no business keeping a quarterback like Griffin on their active roster for so long when he was obviously never going to see the field, and the time has come to pick a new heir to the QB3 throne.

Kyle Trask got one of his longest looks at quarterback last night, and while there were some moments of doubt and hesitation, he still looks like the obvious lock to take that developmental role behind Brady and Gabbert.

No team would ever cut their second-round pick at quarterback so quick, especially when he was drafted to be an option for down the road, and it helps that he has flashed moments that Griffin never did.

It is still the preseason, and Trask has a long way to go before he earns a chance to be in the conversation to follow up Tom Brady at the helm, but he is still the obvious choice to keep over Griffin.

Ryan Griffin did plenty during his time to help out Brady and Gabbert on game days, and the Bucs will likely keep him around on the practice squad, but the time for keeping Griffin on the active roster is officially over.

The Buccaneers should never run the football again. light. Trending
