Buccaneers favored by too much versus New York Giants

The Buccaneers probably shouldn’t be 11-point favorites over the Giants.

This NFL season has been very hard to predict. With parity seemingly at an all-time high, there seems to be chaos on any given week as the perceived status quo is ripped up and reforged. Anything is possible, and while there is a good chance that the Buccaneers dominate the Giants on Monday Night Football, that seems hard to bet on right now.

Tampa has a great team. From the front office to the roster, the Bucs are a scary team, but it is impossible to confidently say that they are 11-points better than anyone in the NFL right now other than the Lions or Jaguars, yet that is exactly where WynnBet placed this game.

The Bucs are fairly the favorites to win; they are better than this Giants team in almost every way. But the exact same thing could’ve been said about the Washington team from last week, and the Saints team from three weeks ago has looked terrible since beating the Buccaneers.

While it is undoubtedly too early to say that the season is over for Tampa, this team will need to go through some serious remodeling from a mental standpoint if they want to live up to the preseason hype.

Gone are the days of coasting through games. Sure, Tampa beat the bad teams like the Dolphins early in the season, but this Giants team is not as bad as their record suggests, and history also shows that this game will be more challenging than everyone thinks.

Bucs-Giants games rarely end in blowouts, and the past few seasons against this team have been extremely close. While every year is a new season, those games still hang heavy as the Buccaneers are clearly going through a slump.

The oddsmakers are clearly right in that they believe Tampa will eventually turn it around and get back on track, but it seems hard to believe that this will be the game where everything finally starts to click after many, many issues over the last month.

Hopefully, the oddsmakers know something we don’t.
