The Buccaneers could’ve simply cut Antonio Brown during the game yesterday, but him still being with the team as of now is actually a good thing.

It has been over a day, and while some fans will be surprised that the Buccaneers haven’t moved on from Antonio Brown yet, there is actually a very legitimate reason as to why Tampa is taking its time.

While it seemed like the Bucs cut Brown on the field during the game, there are actually steps that teams have to take to make players free agents, and making the wrong move in a situation like this could actually hurt Tampa.

One would think that it would be impossible for another team to claim AB after what we just saw, but is impossible really a thing anymore in the NFL?

Could the Rams try to go all-in even more by adding another dominant wide receiver to their offense? Based on the fact that Aaron Rodgers and Brown have similar views on the league COVID protocols, could they be kindred spirits that decided to try to win a Super Bowl together?

Again, it is very unlikely that any team takes Brown now, but the same doubters likely said the same thing about Brown joining the Bucs, and look where we’re at now.

Simply cutting one of the best players in the NFL is an easy way to ensure that a small chance remains that the decision could come back to bite you. If the Jets and their depleted receivers just carved the Bucs up, imagine what Davante Adams and AB would do.

Instead of acting with emotion and doing something that could backfire, the Bucs are making the smart decision, biding their time, and doing everything in their power to make sure that Brown doesn’t make their playoff lives any worse.

At this point, taking Brown out of the equation with a suspension or another punishment may give the Bucs peace of mind on the situation, and the lack of action on the topic so far shows that the team is at least trying to be prudent, and that is a very good sign.
