The Buccaneers front office has added another perfect move to a stellar few seasons.

The upcoming free agency period is going to be a hectic one for the Buccaneers. Having so many free agents to focus on to stay competitive during the current playoff window is a tall task for any front office, but Jason Licht at least made his life a little easier tonight.

Not that it should surprise anyone, but the Buccaneers have made the very smart decision that Vita Vea is going to be a key part of their future going forward.

Adam Schefter reported that Vea will remain in Tampa for the next four seasons on a very fair contract, and the Bucs again prove why they are trending in the right direction by rewarding their young stars.

Going back a few years, this moment might have been a surprise for some of the fans after seeing Vea on the stage holding a Bucs jersey. The Tampa fans made their thoughts on Vea very clear, and man were they wrong.

Vea has since emerged as one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL despite not earning the individual honors. Whether it is against the pass or the run, Vita Vea possesses a terrifying combination of size and speed that makes any offensive player cower, and it is no surprise that the defense started to improve after Vea was utilized more effectively.

In addition to length and price, the Bucs chose the perfect time to start showing love to one of their most important players. A move like this will only show players in Tampa that the coaching staff is committed to the future, and this will hopefully by the first of several major contracts coming to the Bucs’ biggest contributors.

One way or another, this deal was more than warranted, and Buccaneers fans will have plenty of time to watch Vea dominate over the next four years.
