The Buccaneers have to spend a draft pick on a tight end in 2022, right?

O.J. Howard

Forget future on the Buccaneers, O.J. Howard is competing to get something more than a veteran minimum on his next contract.

The former first-round pick for the Buccaneers has been all but non-existent this season, and it seems like fans are wondering where Howard was at the end of every game.

There is just too much natural talent in that body to be at less than 200 receiving yards on the season, and that number becomes even harder to believe when you realize the number of games Rob Gronkowski missed and the lack of a true TE4.

Howard hasn’t taken the next steps as a receiver as anticipated, but there is still a way to salvage some of this bad season for him with a great performance in the playoffs. While Cameron Brate and Gronk should get the majority of the touches, Howard should still get some targets with so many of the receivers out.

Taking care of business when Tom Brady keys in on you is the best way to make money on this team, and Howard may have to do more than that if he wants to stay in Tampa for anything more than pennies on the dollar.
