What the Buccaneers can’t do

The Buccaneers need to avoid quarterbacks in this draft class like the plague. This group is far different from the all-time great group of talent at the position in 2021, and using a pick on any of these players would be a mistake.

Tampa already spent a pick on Trask, and his talent level is on par or above everyone in this upcoming class.

If the Buccaneers really wanted to let a young player lead the team in a full rebuild, letting Trask play out the season makes way more sense than bringing in someone that doesn’t even know the offense yet.

This would certainly be a trial by fire scenario for anyone who steps in at this point, and while the Bucs shouldn’t put a young player in that situation to compete, they should stick with proven commodities in this area before spending picks on more quarterbacks that won’t be up to speed in the offense for a few more years.

Hopefully, Tom Brady doesn’t put the Buccaneers in a bad spot by retiring early, but Bucs fans can be happy about how his presence at all changed the team.

Tampa has recovered from tricky situations in the past, and they will do it again when they need to to remain one of the best teams in the league. Just don’t bet on it happening this offseason.
