It’s official. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be bringing back their creamsicle uniforms as an alternate, as Buccaneers and NFL fans everywhere rejoice.

When the NFL is finally lifted their “one helmet rule”, so the teams could finally start wearing throwback uniforms once again,  Bucs fans everywhere were hoping the famous, (or infamous depending on who you ask)  creamsicle uniforms would make a comeback. According to Adam Schefter, it’s all systems go.

This. Is. Amazing.

The Buccaneers wore these uniforms from their inception in 1976 all the way up until 1996. Coincidently, 1996 was also when the fortunes of the franchise started to take a turn for the better. You see, for the majority of the time the Bucs donned these kits, they were pretty synonymous with futility. During the late 1970s to early 1980s, the team did enjoy a brief period of success, but that quickly went down the drain. The Bucs, or “Yucks” would be circling that drain until Tony Dungy and the red and pewter uniforms came into our lives.

What’s old is new again, so now that these uniforms are considered throwbacks, they’re looked at as “cool”. As noted in the tweet, the Buccaneers wore these throwbacks from 2009-2012 and were enormously popular.

Of course, the fact that Tom Brady retired just before this was announced. The sight of the GOAT wearing the creamsicles would have been something to behold. All things considered, it may have upset the balance of the universe as we know it.

At the end of the day, it remains a mystery as to what the 2023 Buccaneers roster will look like exactly as far as personnel goes. That said, we at least know for certain that there will be a handful of games where whoever is on the field will look absolutely immaculate in their creamsicle uniforms.
