Bruce Arians isn’t playing games with the Buccaneers and Tom Brady drama.

Not that it’s really drama, but the Tom Brady guessing game that has stolen the show this offseason has been a little distracting for the Buccaneers.

As the Buccaneers try to start planning for the future without Brady, the random reports from “close sources” that talk about Brady’s desire to leave, some type of rift in the locker room, and the other general conjecture about a return to the Bucs only makes it that much harder to move on.

Arians and Licht have made it clear that they would always welcome Brady back with open arms, and let’s face it, who wouldn’t? But they also aren’t going to play a Brady return foolishly either.

The head coach made it clear yesterday that trading Brady to a new team is completely out of the question. Why would it be anything different?

Would the Bucs really want to send Brady to a conference contender, presumably the 49ers? Absolutely not. Much like every other coach and general manager seems to think, trading a franchise quarterback never seems to be a good idea.

If teams like the Packers and the Seahawks are completely unwilling to part with their quarterbacks, it would make absolutely no sense for the Buccaneers to play into the market; even if they do owe Brady for a decent portion of their recent success.

Continuing on, Arians did seem to make it clear that the Bucs would listen to ludicrous offers for their Super Bowl MVP, but it is unlikely that anyone would actually make this offer.

Bruce Arians and the Buccaneers do not have any obligation to send Brady wherever he wants to go. An action like that would only hurt the Bucs in the end, and taking a hardline stance like this at least takes the drama out of this part of the season.
