The Buccaneers would love to keep Rob Gronkowski for a world without Tom Brady, but they will certainly need to watch their backs.

Finding a way to keep Rob Gronkowski in Tampa would be a massive win for the Buccaneers this offseason.

Cameron Brate is a decent piece, but there is no replacing one of the best tight ends playing in the league. The Bucs need every bit of help they can get this year, especially with the likelihood that O.J. Howard is leaving, and keeping weapons at the tight end position is the only way to keep life easy for the next starting quarterback.

Gronk has already retired once in his career, and while everyone believes there is a chance that he could do the same again after seeing Tom Brady step away, Gronk’s recent workouts show that he is at least trying to keep the door open.

The Buccaneers have certainly taken notice in these efforts with Gronk working out at their facilities. The Buffalo Bills have also noticed.

According to Tim Graham of The Athletic, Buffalo is interested in bringing another option to town to pair with Josh Allen in the hopes of getting over the hump to reach the Super Bowl.

This makes perfect sense for the Bills, and unfortunately for the Buccaneers, it also makes sense for Gronk.

Gronkowski would get get the opportunity to compete for his third ring with a different team, he would have a better quarterback throwing him passes than the ones in Tampa, and the Bills could potentially afford to pay him more than the cash-strapped Bucs.

Tampa is going through a rebuild while the Bills are finding their stride. The choice may not even be close.

Gronkowski is a hard guy to predict, and it does bode well for the Bucs that he is working out at their facilities, but Tampa needs to watch its back if it really wants number eighty seven to keep catching passes next season.
