The Buccaneers knew they weren’t in on the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes for the past month, but Jordan Love would be a different story.

While it looks like there is still some debate as to the specifics of the contract, Aaron Rodgers is officially staying in Green Bay and not retiring or looking for a trade according to Ian Rapoport.

Buccaneers fans were already resigned to the fact that Rodgers wasn’t coming to Tampa to save the team, but this does actually open up an interesting option for this offseason.

Now that Rodgers is back for the next four years, the Packers officially have no use at all for backup quarterback Jordan Love. This name may not excite most people, but he has just become one of the best options on the market for the Buccaneers.

Just for context, Love is a year younger than Kyle Trask, his value is next to nothing, and his physical traits are better than anyone in the class of 2022.

Is this really a mistake if the Buccaneers were able to make the trade happen for a Day Three pick? Many people already believe Tampa will need to go after at least one free agent or draft option to round out a group of Trask and Blaine Gabbert, so why not go for someone with the traits?

Love certainly hasn’t popped during his short career with the Packers, and Green Bay may look to trade him to smooth things over with Rodgers for the next four years.

On the other end, Love would also probably be open to get the chance to start before he is 27 or 28.

What could go down as one of the strangest draft picks in the past ten years certainly didn’t work out for the Packers, but that doesn’t mean that an athletic quarterback with a big arm won’t succeed in Tampa with Bruce Arians and the Buccaneers.

The Bucs have the picks and the need, and Jordan Love could give the team a better option at a franchise quarterback than the ones they already have on the roster.
