Tom Brady news makes one thing clear for the Buccaneers
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers need to treat this season with Tom Brady just like the others.
Tom Brady is back with the Buccaneers. Not that this is the craziest thing that has happened in his career, but it is still a welcomed surprise after 40 days of trying to come to grips with Kyle Trask or Blaine Gabbert as the new faces of the franchise.
None of that matters now; the Bucs get the best quarterback in the history of the sport back, and an MVP candidate to boot!
There wasn’t much better news Buccaneers fans could get right before free agency starts, and it is important for the franchise to remember one key thing; going all in works.
The Rams just put this on display last season. Trading picks for weapons and trying to win in the moment is not an antiquated process. If you have great pieces on both sides of the ball, making those moves to add to the talent is never a bad decision.
The Bucs stopped short last season, and they need to learn from that misstep.
The 2021 draft class was far from stellar. The Buccaneers were cautious and built for the future, and that decision came back to bite them in the playoffs when they needed depth at key positions.
Instead of playing it safe, the Bucs need to go all-in again on keeping as many names in Tampa as possible while also targeting some outside free agents to up the depth and make the most of one more season with Brady.
Trade for another receiver. Find a talent running back. Go for broke in the draft. These are the decisions that a team with eyes for the Super Bowl makes. Being aggressive is how the Bucs got to this place already, and getting conservative is what cost them last season.
Tampa has one night to get their free agency plans in place. Let’s hope they learned from their mistakes from last season and hit the ground hard tomorrow at noon.
