With the emergence of the news that Tom Brady is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next season, the entire plan for the Bucs offseason has to be rewritten from what the front office was thinking.

Before the news, that Bucs had few options given their lack of cap space from restructuring contracts the past couple seasons, as well as star players entering free agency that would need to be paid.

This would all be placed on top of the fact that the team had no starting quarterback that could perform at a high level.

However, now that Brady is back, that creates a few separate issues and solves some.

For one, star tight-end Rob Gronkowski will almost certainly be returning to finish his career with good friend Brady. Gronkowski played a vital role in the team’s success the last two seasons, and having him return will greatly improve the offense.

Second, the Bucs will need to secure vital players like wide receiver Chris Godwin on a long-term deal and center Ryan Jensen. Both should be a bit more willing to take a little less money with the Brady news, which would benefit the Buccaneers tremendously.

Could this also mean that Ali Marpet returns from retirement also?

Third, the Bucs front office needs to have a win-now mentality again instead of rebuilding, since they only have one more chance to get a ring before Brady is really gone.

That being said, GM Jason Licht needs to find a way to ensure that the team he puts on the field is better than last year. This means reinforcing the defensive secondary that was the team’s Achilles’ heel.

The Bucs are now in a position to win it all for the second time in three years. With Brady back, it’s on the front office to find a way to put together a team that can win it all this coming season.
