The Buccaneers are getting better every day of free agency. The signings over the past few days have been excellent, especially Logan Ryan.

General manager Tom Brady is still doing everything in his power to make this Buccaneers team even better than the one that won the Super Bowl a little over a year ago.

Going after guys like Russell Gage and Julio Jones is a positive start to the free agency period on the offensive side of the ball, but Brady’s reach doesn’t stop there.

Even defensive players want to come to Tampa to play with the greatest NFL player of all time, and Logan Ryan signing with the Bucs is another obvious result of Brady coming back.

Ryan was a Super Bowl champion with Brady and had plenty of time playing with the GOAT while in New England as a corner. In the more recent years, Ryan has shifted to more of a pure defensive back moniker, and that is something that would help the Bucs tremendously.

Whether Todd Bowles wants to run with Ryan at corner, safety, or some hybrid when needed, this signing gives the Bucs a greater level of versatility than what they had last season.

The other part of this move that works so well is the veteran presence Ryan brings. Much like Richard Sherman last season, Ryan will be the oldest player in the secondary by a healthy margin, and having that experience always helps with a young group.

On that note, Ryan brings that veteran presence in the same manner as Sherman, but he is also younger and less likely to deal with injuries. This move essentially switches these two players to give the Buccaneers a player with a bit more reliability at this stage of his career.

Again, it’s hard not to say enough great things about what this front office is doing. All of these moves may not be as flashy as last season where the team was able to bring every starter back from a Super Bowl-winning team, but there are arguments to be made that this offseason could be even better if it keeps going at this pace.
