Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 NFL draft preview and plan
The Buccaneers have re-loaded their competitive roster this offseason. Tom Brady and the rest of the gang are ready to run it back, including receiver Godwin, who will help make up one of the best WR groups in the NFL.
So, what are the team needs for Tampa Bay? Are there any roster positions that need more depth? Should the Bucs add the best wide receiver available and create another triple threat at the receiver spot? Based on the previous season and the excellent product on the field, the offense has outstanding skill positions, and the defense has a top five front seven in the league.
The secondary could use extra depth, and the offensive line could use some as well. I trust GM Jason Licht to continue building quality, champtionship rosters.
Ultimately, it’ll come down to what Licht wants.
With a quality roster assembled through free agent re-signings, past draft pieces who are already contributing on the field, and the skill positions on offense already in place, I hope the Bucs will draft the foundational pieces for a football team.
If the Bucs do draft more offensive and defensive linemen, those new Bucs players have a great opportunity to learn, shadow, and share playing time with proven veterans.
It’s a similar situation that Joe Tryon-Shoyinka was put in last season. It was great to have him produce for the Bucs, but the defensive line was already a top unit in the NFL.
Tryon-Shoyinka provided depth, learned from outstanding veteran players, and was able to contribute to the team’s success.
The Bucs were also able to address their secondary by re-signing Carlton Davis and bringing in Logan Ryan as a proven depth piece.
