When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ all-world tackle shared his playing weight for the upcoming 2022 season, it just further evidence of how ridiculous of an athlete he really is, and what an absolute freak of nature the Buccaneers have in their crew.

After a ridiculous rookie season in 2020, an argument could easily have been made that Tristan Wirfs was already the right tackle in all of football, and the fact that he wasn’t voted an All-Pro was highway robbery. He wasn’t even selected to plain the Pro Bowl, as if he would have been eligible to anyway because the silver lining was his season culminated with a Lombardi Trophy thanks to a win in Super Bowl LV.

After a sensational sophomore season in 2021, an argument could just as easily be made that he is now the best tackle in the NFL, period. Wirfs was selected to both the Pro Bowl and was a first-team All-Pro selection. It’s honestly pretty crazy that a second-year player has the ability to consider those accolades as “overdue” but that speaks volumes to the quality of player Wirfs is. His value can also not be measured, as a case can be made his absence in the playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams was the biggest reason the Rams ended up winning Super Bowl LVI at all.

The point is, the Bucs are beyond lucky to have Wrifs on the offensive line, and according to his Pro Football Reference page, his big 6-feet-5-inch, 320-pound body is a big reason why he’s so dominant.

Only this isn’t completely true.

This behemoth of a blocker recently came out and said that he will be playing this season (and most likely beyond) at 345 pounds, because that is where he feels his best.

Let that sink in.

THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE POUNDS.

As if his other-worldly skill was the reason for skepticism on if the player was a mere mortal man, on a roster chock-full of these out-of-this-world types like Tom Brady and Vita Vea, Wirfs is now bulking up by an apparent 25 five pounds. Insanity.

At the end of the day, with the NFL Draft right around the corner and quality free agents still available to be had, there’s bigger fish to fry in terms of news. However, this Tristan Wirfs tidbit could not go unacknowledged, and it’s just another in a litany of reasons why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should continue to be included with the cream of the crop in the NFL.

Next. Another young stud to go with Wirfs?. dark
