Buccaneers can only laugh at ridiculous Antonio Brown offer

Antonio Brown may think that he can make it through a full season without making any mistake off the field, but the Buccaneers know better.

Antonio Brown is not going to play another snap in the NFL. He may still be a very talented receiver with a phenomenal ability to run routes and make plays after the catch, but the baggage is too much for any team, especially the Buccaneers, to worry about.

There is a point of diminishing returns that a concern like Brown hits rather quickly. All the talent on the planet can’t help you when you quit on a team during a game over a lack of targets.

The Bucs and Brown did get a ring out of their union, but that was the ceiling on how long that experiment would work for. Tampa did win by pursuing AB, even knowing what we do about the end, but they can’t try this out again-even if the offer seems too good to be true.

Floyd Mayweather made the rather strange offer that he is going out on a limb for AB. The terms of the deal are clear; if Brown can stay out of trouble, he and Mayweather get $20 million. If Brown slips up, he and Mayweather owe the team the same.

Outside of the normal logistic issues that arise from a deal like this, which is surely illegal through the terms of the league, the Bucs aren’t going to get back in bed with a player that has bashed the team so publicly.

Brown has done nothing to remedy his image in the past few months, and the lack of any improvements on the athletic front does little to inspire confidence that he will ever be back as a legitimate option.

If the Buccaneers really do want to go after another wide receiver, they would be better off going after a draft pick or a free agency option rather than a ludicrous deal that only exists to drum up publicity.
