Deebo Samuel is one of the hottest names in the NFL right now after his request to be traded from the 49ers, but the Buccaneers can’t do anything here.
As much as we all like the idea of the Buccaneers pursuing every talented offensive option that comes available during the offseason, there comes a time where the deals become too ridiculous to keep pace with. All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel is one of those options.
Samuel exploded onto the scene in 2021 as a do-it-all option lined up out wide and from the backfield. This “wide back” role has likely been a long time coming in the modern game that values athletes above all else, and the 49ers finding a way to use these talents was a huge reason why they made it so far in the playoffs.
Regardless, all good things come to an end, and Samuel has requested a trade from San Francisco after a shaky offseason so far. News hasn’t come out yet as to why this request has been made, but it is interesting that such a lucrative and successful partnership has fallen apart so fast.
Breaking News: I just spoke to wide receiver Deebo Samuel — and he told me that he has asked the 49ers to trade him.

He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.
With Samuel officially on the market, Bucs fans may wish that their team would go after the extremely talented option to pair with Tom Brady, but this deal just isn’t in the cards.
Not only can the Buccaneers not afford the trade compensation, but the idea of having three receivers on the roster making around $60-70 million is outrageous, even if one receiver can rush between the tackles.
There is no possible way to make this deal happen, and Bucs fans need to figure that out before they start to get any ideas.
It obviously always makes sense to add guys that make the unit better and to make the team more of a Super Bowl contender, but Deebo Samuel is not going to become a Buccaneer.
