Buccaneers wheel and deal in latest trade-filled mock draft
With the 123rd overall pick, the Buccaneers select Dominique Robinson – Edge (Miami OH)
It’s no secret that the Buccaneers love them athletic specimens. This is evident by both past real drafts, and hypothetical future mock drafts. It’s also true they love building from the inside out, focusing on the interior, as they should. After all, games are won and lost in the trenches.
With this being the case, pass rushers are always needed, especially with the NFL developing more and more into a pass-happy league with each passing year. You need at least three, and with Jason Pierre-Paul likely not returning, the Bucs currently have last year’s first-round pick Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Shaq Barrett penciled in as the two starters, which is perfectly fine.
This opens up the perfect opportunity for the Buccaneers to absolutely steal Dominique Robinson in the fourth round.
What makes Robinson a physical marvel? After all, his 6‘5“ and 253 pound body might not seem all that impressive for a pass rusher. While that is true, what sets Robinson apart is the fact that he was a former wide receiver that converted into a pass rusher. Yes, you read that correctly. Robinson was a wide receiver his freshman year with the RedHawks.
With that, comes great speed and burst off the line when getting after the quarterback. Since Robinson wouldn’t need to start right away, he would be a great rotational piece to come in for spot duty while developing his strength and ability to take on more blockers at the point of attack, which is something he does admittedly need to work on.
Of course, with all the talent around him, especially if this mocks somehow holds true and Davis comes to Tampa Bay, he would be in a great position to thrive. With this potential pick, the Buccaneers are able to snatch up a possible diamond in the rough solution at their most slept-on team need.
