Dating back to Tom Brady’s first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there has been a rumored rift between ex-head coach Bruce Arians and the future Hall of Famer. Many even believed that it was due to their poor relationship that Brady retired after the end of last season.

Brady surprisingly returned though, followed closely by the even more shocking announcement that Arians would be stepping away from his head coaching position with the Bucs and into a role in the organization’s front office.

While many have dismissed the rumor that Brady’s return caused Arians departure or vice versa, it was definitely suspicious timing to say the least.

Now it’s being reported that Arians has tried to clear the air by letting the public know that Brady has bought him a $50,000 watch. The former coach went on to say that he also intends to play golf with Brady when he returns to Tampa Bay ahead of next season.

While this isn’t exactly a smoking gun that there ever was a rift between the two, it would certainly appear to be a peace offering by Brady. It seems more like buying a necklace for a girlfriend after a big fight than just a gift for a friend.

However, many in the media played up the issues between Brady and Arians as something they very clearly were not. While many of the rumors concerning their relationship depicted it as a dramatic personal animosity shared between the two, it was more likely just a series of football disagreements between the two.

Arians and Brady are both professionals and this gift by Brady gives evidence to that. Neither Arians or Brady, who are both heavily involved in the Bucs organization and therefore its success, want any lingering drama between them to affect the team this coming year. Brady knows that and a $50,000 watch would definitely put most people in a forgiving mood.

With this gift and a few rounds of golf behind them, they should finally be able to put this story to rest.
