The Buccaneers saw how the board fell during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft and figured the options would be just as good by trading back into the second round.

The 2022 NFL Draft is off to a great start for the Buccaneers. Trading back may not be the most exciting option for fans that stayed up late to see who their team would target, but they will soon discover that this was the best-possible option.

Tampa was able to bring in a few more picks to round out some depth and to get some new bodies for camp, and all of this started with the decision to avoid reaching on any prospects and look to add picks.

The Bucs did this perfectly with pick #27, but could they do the same thing with pick #33?

Trading back again would be the definition of bold. The Bucs pushing themsleves back would be a true sign that this class is one of the worst in recent memory, but isn’t that exactly what we are seeing?

There will obviously be some hits like there are in every class, but putting extra value on a weak first-round could take away from getting more darts to throw at the board.

It is important to remember the Bucs shouldn’t go too far back as to be able to find enough guys that can actually contribute in 2022, but there is still enough space that the Bucs can prioritize quantity of picks without a major drop in quality.

Regardless, the Bucs shouldn’t make a decision yet. They should wait and see what a desperate team is willing to offer when the clock actually starts. Maybe there is more to gain from this very lucrative first pick.
