Bad teams tend to stay bad. That is exactly what is happening with Buccaneers division rival Carolina Panthers and their terrible quarterback plan.

Some teams just can’t seem to get out of their own way. This happened with the Buccaneers for the better part of their history outside of a few short years of wild success, but it at least seems like they are on the upswing.

The Carolina Panthers are a different story.

Where do you start with them as an organization? Paying running backs? Trading for Sam Darnold and then paying him? Having the worst coach in the league? No draft picks?

The list goes on.

The Panthers aren’t going to compete in 2022 and they aren’t going to compete any time soon after that either.

The bad decisions come from a variety of areas, but the biggest problem for now has to be the quarterback. Sam Darnold isn’t the answer, won’t be the answer, can’t be the answer. Well, can’t be the answer unless the question is “which quarterback gives us the best chance to finish with the #1 pick?”

Carolina was able to make a quality pickup at the position with Matt Corral in the draft. However, they follow that move up with some laughable discussions.

Apparently the Panthers haven’t discovered how important a good quarterback is in the modern era. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the Panthers still have their eyes on Jimmy Garoppolo, Baker Mayfield, and Nick Foles.

All three are better than what the Panthers have on the roster, but that isn’t saying anything.

Mayfield and Jimmy G probably don’t happen for a variety of reasons, but Nick Foles is a legitimate add for the Panthers. Boy, would Bucs fans love to see Foles in a Panthers jersey.

What a terrible move that would be. The Panthers are better off losing with Darnold than they are sitting in the middle with Foles, someone who amounts to little more than a career backup with one great moment.

The Panthers keep playing it safe and refuse to make the dangerous moves, and that will keep Carolina at the bottom of the NFC South for a long time to come.

All the Buccaneers can do is laugh and hope their opponent actually pulls the trigger.

Trending. Buccaneers rookie with the highest ceiling is a no-brainer. light
