Jordan Whitehead was a huge part of the Buccaneers roster and was loved by the fanbase. His most recent Tweet makes it seem like he didn’t feel the same.

We are to the part of the offseason in the NFL dead zone where even player Tweets constitute a bit of news. Former Buccaneers safety Jordan Whitehead has already caused a bit of a ruckus after his departure in free agency, and his most recent Tweet is flat-out strange.

For what it’s worth, there isn’t a Bucs fan out there that doesn’t wish Whitehead was still with the team. His price tag with the Jets wasn’t even that high to begin with, and the Buccaneers will miss his presence on the field greatly in their 2022 campaign.

Regardless, Whitehead has been busy during this offseason, and his most recent post makes it seem like the grass is greener in New York.

Whitehead says that he feels free playing football. Did he not feel free in Tampa?

Did Todd Bowles not put Whitehead in a position to cement himself as one of the best defenders on the team? Was winning a ring in Tampa and competing for another not freeing enough?

Whitehead might feel a little raw after not getting an offer from the Bucs to stay in Tampa, but let’s not pretend that he wasn’t always put in positions to succeed on a team that was always playing in games that had national relevance.

Perhaps it feels nice to have a decent contract for a few years, but playing losing football in New York can’t be more free than playing on a team with Tom Brady, right?

Regardless of what he meant, Jordan Whitehead could’ve probably put his words to paper in a better way if he was trying to get a different point across. This post makes it seem like the Tampa system was lacking for a safety like Whitehead, and we all know that wasn’t the case.
