Rob Gronkowski has been having fun with everyone else during the offseason as people speculate on his return to the Buccaneers. This is on purpose.

The Rob Gronkowski speculation on his next step with the Buccaneers took another turn today based on an innocuous comment on an Instagram post.

This is where we are at in the offseason, I guess.

Most Bucs fans have spent the past few months seeing Gronk coming back as a no-brainer. This has even reached the point where fans that obviously have no ties to the organization or the player “guarantee” that he will be back.

Of course, perhaps we we shouldn’t always trust these people and their “sources,” but Gronk taking his time does concern the rational people in the fanbase.

In the end, we will likely look back on all of this in a few months and see this as little more than the well-renowned prankster having fun at others’ expense, but there is still a part of us that should wonder if comments like this one mean more than we’d think.

Does Gronk really think he will be in the stands this season? Does he really have the stomach to watch his close friend and other former teammates competing for a Super Bowl without him?

We doubt it. But would this really be the first time that something happens in Tampa that no one else saw coming?

We are going to keep operating under the assumption that this is all just a long con by Gronk and perhaps a long-winded setup by Tom Brady for some type of goofy social media post. However, it is nice to remember that Tampa did just take two tight ends in the draft that likely make the team this offseason.

Of all the players that need to be back in Tampa to put the team in the best position to win, a tight end might not be the most important for this offense, but posts like this do still bring up a tinge of fear about his future.

Looks like we are just going to have to wait and see.
