Buccaneers veterans on the hot seat going into training camp

Do the Buccaneers need Ryan Succop?
In short, the Buccaneers will probably find themselves in a situation very soon where they have to weigh a kicker that looks better in camp versus a kicker that won a Super Bowl just over a year ago.
It’s a difficult decision, but it is one that should have a clear answer.
Succop is a good kicker. On some days he is a great kicker. But let’s not pretend that he is the best kicker in this history of the NFL. His contract for the Bucs and his performances on the field were decent in 2022, but both could be better.
Based on what we’ve seen from Jose Borregales, it looks like the Bucs could be confident in moving on from one of their best special teams players in favor of a cheaper option with more upside.
Succop is getting up there in age, Borregales has looked good for most of his time with the Bucs, and the writing could be on the wall before we know it if this keeps up at its current pace.
The Buccaneers will hopefully take a bit more time evaluating this position for the future than they will with the punter situation, but Succop will need to be lights out this summer if he really wants to keep his job.
