Defensive lineman for the Buccaneers

Malik Jackson

Malik Jackson is a quality player that has spent most of his NFL career on bad teams. After a decent couple of seasons with the Jaguars during their brief moment in the limelight, Jackson proved that he could bring something to the table as a defender.

The past few years haven’t been excellent, but the Bucs don’t need a stud at the position. What they need is cheap depth, and Jackson absolutely does bring that.

Jackson was on the books for just over one million dollars last season, and it isn’t like his price tag will go up that much. On the other hand, Ndamukong Suh was quite expensive for the Buccaneers relative to what he brought to the table on the field, so this would be a good move to open up some space while addressing a need.

No one should expect Jackson to be a full-time starter in this defense, especially after the Bucs drafted Logan Hall, but he could step in at the start of the year as Hall gets used to the game and then rotate in with veteran minutes towards the end of the season.

This might not be the flashiest deal on the planet, but this should be a good fit for both parties and put both in a better position moving forward.
