Everyone knew that the Buccaneers needed to bring Ryan Jensen back in free agency. This story just proves that fact even more.
Every Buccaneers fan knew that Ryan Jensen was one of the main priorities in free agency this offseason. It was always going to be difficult to get Jensen to stay based on the dwindling cap space available to the Bucs, but a tough departure did open up an opportunity.
Alex Cappa leaving in free agency did give the Bucs some money to work with. Ali Marpet’s surprise retirement also made it so that Tampa couldn’t move on from Jensen even if the money wasn’t great.
The Buccaneers needed consistency on the interior of their line, and Ryan Jensen brings this consistency at the highest level. Jensen is one of the best centers in the NFL and his reputation goes beyond Tampa. Other players know it too.
This story Tweeted out by NFL Philosophy paints a perfect picture of what Jensen brings to the table for the Bucs.
Never told this story but enough time has passed… An agent once told me his DL was deciding on 2 teams - 1 in the NFCS and 1 not in the NFCS. It was literally dead even. After a couple of days, the DL chose outside the NFCS because he hated Jensen so much. He has that effect. https://t.co/J2XV9XTVIW

Every team needs a lineman that can play at a high level and cause his opponents to second guess every rep. Jensen has been that player since he arrived in Tampa, and the fact that opposing free agents choose to go other players as to not have to play one of the meanest players in the league is a great thing for Tampa to be known for.
This offensive line is extremely talented, and it is very hard to underscore just how much Jensen brings to the table from a level of play and what he brings mentally.
This story shouldn’t surprise anyone. We all see how Jensen always plays until the whistle (and sometimes beyond) and this kind of heart is a requirement for a Bucs team that wants to win in 2022.
