There is one more major signing that most Buccaneers fans are waiting for this offseason. The signing of Akiem Hicks doesn’t change anything.

When is Rob Gronkowski announcing his return to the Buccaneers?

This is the question that has been resting on the lips of Bucs across the world for a few months now.

When is it going to happen? Is it going to happen?

It isn’t easy when the player in question is a comedian that treats every opportunity as a way to mess with the fanbase even further.

Still, there is a bit of concern from some within the fanbase that Gronk taking this long to make a decision is a decision in and of itself, and they are pointing to the recent deal for Akiem Hicks as part of their reasoning.

The announced deal for Hicks is $10 million, the Bucs only have slightly more than than in camp space, and some of those within the media that have an extra level of disdain for Tampa have begun the discussion that Gronk wanting more money is why he isn’t back already.

It’s all silly.

In reality, this Hicks contract is going to be a much smaller hit than most people would expect. Agents always give the details of the contract including incentives etc., plus the information regarding void years and other cap tricks has not come out.

Knowing what we do about this Buccaneers front office, Hicks is likely only going to be on the books for a fraction of what the deal looked like in the initial reports.

This leaves more than enough money for the Bucs to pay Gronkowski handsomely, not that anyone should think money is the hangup. Gronk has done very well financially during his career, especially with the Bucs, and he is another one of the few players that will likely make more after he retires for the final time than he did as a player.

Money isn’t the issue in Tampa right now.

Gronk just has to decide what he wants to do. Let’s just hope that it’s sooner rather than later.
