Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 position group grades
Let’s rank the 2022 Buccaneers squad from 1-10, grading starters with the most weight, position players/depth, and potential to succeed this year.
Quarterbacks-
Tom Brady is unequivocally the greatest to ever do it. That’s not an opinion, that’s not something that can be argued. He has more rings than any TEAM does. Aside from the GOAT, there is a lot of murkiness on the depth chart.
Blaine Gabbert would likely be considered our second string QB, and he isn’t a lot to write home about as a player. Trask seems to have impressed his coaches, and had a solid college career where he showed plenty of promise, but the NFL is a whole different game. Also currently on our roster is Ryan Griffin, even lower than the other guys. This ranking is for this year though, and we have the best QB to ever do it….
Overall Grade: 10
Running backs-
Leonard Fournette may not have the same burst he had in Jacksonville, but Lombardi Lenny can still get four yards the hard way. He has also been very solid out of the backfield, catching 69 balls last year.
Backing up Fournette, we have Rachaad White, who is a name Bucs fans will quickly get acquainted with. White led the Arizona State Sun Devils in both rushing and receiving yards last year. We know TB12 loves to check down to his backs, and White will be a great addition from that perspective, we need to see him adjust to the pro game before jumping to conclusions. Ke’shawn Vaughn, and Gio Bernard round out our running back room and both are more than capable to step in and help carry the load when needed.
Overall Grade: 7
Wide receivers
Tampa Bay currently has arguably the best WR room in the NFL when healthy. The consistency of Mike Evans, the incredible route running and ability to get open from Chris Godwin, and the emerging Russell Gage create a trio at the top of the depth chart that is as formidable as any other…. Tampa’s depth chart at the position is incredible…. Breshad Perriman and Cyril Grayson would likely be starting in the slot on other teams, Tyler Johnson and Scotty Miller would each get solid playing time, and they brought in Jerreth Sterns and Deven Thompkins who ranked first and second in the entire NCAA in receiving yards respectively.
Overall Grade: 9
