Ridiculous Tom Brady plan comments reason for Buccaneers to be upset?
By Rob Leeds
After a few months of everyone within the Buccaneers denying the notion that Tom Brady could’ve joined the Dolphins, the GOAT seemingly missed the memo regarding the company stance.
Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady had a clear opportunity to shut down the rumors that he had an offseason plan to join the Dolphins as a partial owner and then play for Miami.
The plan, which was ridiculous in every aspect of its existence, was shut down by almost every person in the Buccaneers organization since the initial rumors broke. It seems like everyone but the most important person understood this.
After giving an extremely clear and succinct response in a Jenna Laine report on whether or not there was bad blood between him and Bruce Arians, Tom Brady gave one of the floppiest answers on the planet about whether or not he had planned on joining the Dolphins.
Do we all owe Mike Florio an apology?
This comes as a pretty dramatic surprise, especially when considering how ludicrous this plan was. Did Brady really think the Bucs would trade their MVP quarterback for nothing? Did Brady and the Dolphins believe the league wouldn’t find out about some sort of illegal tampering that went on to make this deal materialize as a plan?
There were a ton of moving pieces in this plan that made it easy to refute its existence for months, yet Brady just added fuel to the fire by giving a response without actually giving a response.
The Buccaneers, who are a far-better team and far better-run than the Dolphins, should feel slighted in some form by comments such as this. While not outright admitting to wanting to leave Tampa for Miami, this doesn’t do much to show anyone that this is exactly where Brady wants to be.
More than anything, in Tampa with the Buccaneers looks like where Tom Brady has to be if he wants to keep playing football.
The Buccaneers and their fanbase are obviously extremely grateful for what Brady has done to help the team out, but this story does dull the edge of the legend just a little bit.
Brady did more for the Bucs than almost any other player in franchise history. He was a lock for the Ring of Honor after a year. And, while all of this was happening, the GOAT was already looking for his next step in a strange scheme that wouldn’t even work if implemented?
It’s a weird look for sure. Hopefully more information comes out on this story one way or another.
