The Buccaneers have built their franchise on guys that step up in the big moments. Maybe someone new can do that in camp to make the team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are actually bringing back a lot of familiar faces for camp this summer. Between guys that have already spent time on the roster in short spurts to long-time practice squad members, the new faces are few and far between in camp this season.

While there are obviously rookie draft picks and recent free agent signings that are new to the team but obviously going to make the roster, there are also a handful of newcomers that actually have an outside chance of being more than a camp body to see what the final 53 can do against real competition.

Enter undrafted free agent receiver Jerreth Sterns.

Despite the fact that it seems like around 50 of the 53-total players stand out as locks as of today, there is still a small amount of shifting that happens with even the best of teams. Offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, secondary, tight ends, running backs, and quarterbacks are mostly set for the Bucs, but wide receiver is the position that could see the most movement.

While the good money is on a top-six receiver corps that looked nearly identical to last season, some shakeup wouldn’t be out of the question. Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller, Tyler Johnson, Jaelon Darden, and Cyril Grayson have plenty of question marks in their games.

If a couple of those guys look shaky in camp and Sterns is able to flash the talent that he showed in college, it shouldn’t be out of the question for him to make the roster as the sixth guy.

Sterns’ game is far from perfect, but what he put on the field with so much volume and high-end production is hard to overlook. The talent gets better in the NFL and the whole game speeds up, but Sterns was at least a great pickup as a fringe guy that could turn into one of the best stories at camp if he can find a way to put it all together.
