Kyle Rudolph signing shows Buccaneers have accepted harsh truth
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers signing Kyle Rudolph shows that they have accepted the harsh truth regarding Rob Gronkowski and his future in Tampa.
Does anyone still honestly believe that Rob Gronkowski is coming back to save the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
You shouldn’t.
Gronk has been abundantly clear with his statements that he is done with football and not coming back. You can ignore all of the other noise. Misdirection happens during a time like this, and while it is in Gronk’s best interest to have everyone think he could come back, his best interest continues to align with staying off of the field going forward.
None of this should surprise anyone that isn’t looking at the situation through pewter-colored glasses, and it has now become obvious that even the Bucs see this with their recent signing of Kyle Rudolph.
One of the best arguments for the Gronk-returning supporters was that the Bucs hadn’t signed anyone yet, and a tight end room of Cameron Brate, Cade Otton, and Ko Kieft is one that would need a guy like Gronk for the postseason.
Had the Bucs actually believed that their star tight end could actually return, this would’ve made some sense.
Instead of showing that faith in the impossible, the Bucs went out and signed a veteran tight end that is already better than what they have in Brate and likely show their hand on what they believe is going to happen.
This is the right move by the Buccaneers.
Even if you want to hold onto some level of hope that a guy like Gronkowski could come back in the playoffs, sitting around and waiting like they did with Brady would not help the Buccaneers in a situation like this.
It isn’t easy to accept, but if the Buccaneers can move on from the thoughts of Rob Gronkowski coming back, the fans should be able to do this too.
