Buccaneers starter has perfect response to recent criticism
By Rob Leeds
Leonard Fournette is sick of people wondering how he will look when he shows up to training camp with the Buccaneers. His response to the media is perfect.
The recent overblown drama between Leonard Fournette and the Buccaneers should come to a close very soon.
Training camp has a way of shifting narratives to things that matter much more, and a month removed from minicamp should be all the starting running back needed to put some space between himself and the concerns regarding his weight.
While this could still be an issue based on the reported ways that Fournette is trying to address his size, he still took to social media to have some fun.
Fournette, who has always let his sense of humor shine through during his time in Tampa, didn’t hold back here.
The poorly-made photoshop shows how little worry Fournette has for how the coming weeks are set to go. Weight is important in the NFL, but a guy of Fournette’s work ethic and resources should be able to rectify the situation rather quickly.
A guy like Fournette knows how to take care of himself when the season starts. Being close to 250 or even 260 is alarming, but it was during the middle of the summer. The Super Bowl champion still has time for the game-speed drills to ramp up before this becomes a real problem anyway, not that it should be a major concern anyway.
As most people have been able to see from the start of this story, if Fournette is able to come out in camp and show that he hasn’t lost a step and is in a healthy weight range, the Buccaneers are in a more than fine position with their offense.
There is time before this becomes a real story. Leonard Fournette just has to make sure that he starts off strong and keeps from feeding the wrong narratives.
