Buccaneers make perfect signing with future Hall of Famer
By Rob Leeds
The Buccaneers just gave themselves the best offense in the NFL by a wide margin by signing future Hall of Famer Julio Jones.
The Buccaneers offense just became silly.
Pairing Tom Brady with the likes of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Russell Gage was enough to give the Bucs a decent shot at the Super Bowl. Adding in a future Hall of Famer just makes the room silly.
After months of speculation as to where Julio Jones would sign, the Bucs just won the lottery when the veteran receiver decided to pair up with Brady in the hopes of winning an ever-elusive Super Bowl ring.
Are Bucs fans still going to say that signings aren’t possible? Is there really anyone who is off-limits to a team like this with Brady at the helm?
The Buccaneers now have the best offense in the NFL by a healthy margin.
Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are the obvious one and two. Jones and Gage will then be the next guys on the field, and Tampa finally has a fourth receiver to rely on outside of their main guys.
This lack of a guy like Jones was a problem for the Bucs last season. Once Godwin and Antonio Brown were out, the depth was shaky. Signing Jones takes this out of the equation entirely.
Even if Jones does struggle with injuries like he did last season, the Bucs have a guy like Gage to step in as well.
When healthy, this is one of the best wide receiver rooms in NFL history. Jones is a lock for the Hall of Fame, Evans isn’t far off, and Godwin is definitely doing his best to make a case for himself.
The Buccaneers just got better. The arms race for the Super Bowl is heating up, and Tampa is going about this in all of the right ways.
