While Scotty Miller sits on the bubble to make the roster for the Buccaneers in 2022, he sure picked a good time to prove he still has gas left in the tank.

A few months have gone by where it looked like Scotty Miller could’ve played his last real snaps for the Buccaneers.

The end of the 2021 campaign was not what people wanted to see with so many openings at the receiver position, but it was fair to blame some of the lapses in production on injuries.

With a fierce competition brewing in a dominant wide receiver room for one of the last roster spots that are available, Scotty Miller decided to show that the months of speculation on his health were silly.

We aren’t going to get too hyped up about catches made in practice, although Miller has made some excellent plays and run some great routes, but he is proving one thing that will give him the best chance at making the team: health.

Health is going to be one of the biggest selling points for these depth guys. With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Julio Jones prone to missing some games every year, depth guys that can step up to the plate are key. Guys that can’t stay healthy can’t do this part of the job.

To further Miller’s case, the last time that we saw him truly healthy was back in 2020. We all saw what he was able to do then.

It might be a bit much to assume that Miller can get back to those levels on the team with a new depth chart in place, but anything close to that as the fifth or sixth receiver could be too much for the Buccaneers to bet against.

Scotty Miller has made it clear that he isn’t going down without a fight. This wide receiver race is still open, but more practices like this one and some great preseason games could seal the deal for the scrappy Miller.

Trending. No-brainer free agents the Buccaneers need to call during camp to win. light
