A lot of fans would be extremely happy to see the Buccaneers keep Scotty Miller at receiver for the 2022 season. Todd Bowles has the right idea.

Scotty Miller is one of the biggest fan favorites on the Buccaneers right now. Something about one of the best moments in franchise history has a way of elevating a player to a higher standard amongst the fanbase.

Despite the love that Miller gets from his supporters, there is nothing guaranteed about the spots outside of the top four receivers for Tampa.

With Tyler Johnson and Jaelon Darden getting some precedence based on age and projections, Miller staying on the roster for 2022 is not a given.

With all of this in mind, Todd Bowles explained what the Bucs are looking for with their speedy receiver:

Staying healthy. It seems pretty simple when you think about it, but it is actually one of the biggest weakness on this Buccaneers roster.

If we look at history, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Julio Jones are going to miss games this season. One has to hope that it won’t all come at the same time, but what will Tampa do if it does?

A perfect storm happened last year on this front. Even with all the losses, the Bucs came within a minute of making it back to the NFC Championship. One has to assume they won’t let injuries beat them again.

Based on the fact that the Bucs know injuries are going to play a role, it makes sense that the staff would care so much about Miller staying healthy.

Scotty Miller is a very talented receiver that helps the offense greatly when he is on the field. If the Bucs can get him close to where he was during the 2020 season from a health standpoint, it stands to reason that he can be one of the best WR5s in the NFL.

The Bucs are monitoring this situation in the right way. Hopefully Miller can meet the standards they set.

No-brainer free agents the Buccaneers need to call during camp to win. light. Trending
