After several weeks of speculation, Deshaun Watson’s suspension is finally here, and it looks like he should be on the 2022 schedule for the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers already had one of the hardest schedules in the NFL in 2022 before anyone knew the status of Deshaun Watson, contrary to what any of the betting odds will tell you.
There is a long list of Super Bowl-contending teams and MVP candidates coming up for the Bucs to face off against en route to their ultimate prize, and it looks like another tough name to overcome has surfaced on the schedule.
As of now, Deshaun Watson is set to serve a six-game suspension, meaning he should be good to go by the time the Bucs come to Cleveland.
Before anyone gets too far ahead of themselves, this is not set in stone yet. There is an appeals process that can still come from the side of the league, but the player and NFLPA being on the same side on this topic makes it seem like change is not very likely.
This all means that the Buccaneers need to start planning for another one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Despite the fact that Watson has an injury history and spent all of last season on the bench, the Browns have just become one of the best teams in the league if they can start off well. Watson is a top-ten quarterback at the least. Top-five is within the realm of possibility.
The Browns are now one of the hardest games on the schedule for the Buccaneers. Cleveland is one of the most complete teams in the league when healthy, and playing them towards the end of the season when injuries are sure to be a problem is going to be very difficult for Tampa.
One way or another, the Buccaneers need to make sure that they have a plan in place for yet another MVP hopeful in Deshaun Watson.
