As much as it may come as a surprise, Steve Smith Sr. was able to give some praise to Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady during camp.

The strangest thing that most Buccaneers fans will ever see is Steve Smith Sr. giving credit to their quarterback, Tom Brady.

That is a weird sentence that would shock anyone from a few years back if you told them.

And yes, before we get too far ahead, Steve Smith is a Hall of Famer. At this point, it is a matter of when.

Jumping back to Smith’s comments, the former division rival is usually quite slow to shell his former opponents in praise. This would be like Mike Evans talking about how great Baker Mayfield is for the Panthers (perhaps an impossible sentence for a variety of reasons).

You might have to see them to believe them, but here they are:

Smith is right on the money with everything here. The Bucs should be feeding Kyle Trask the same stuff. Maybe the avocado ice cream will help him take his game to the next level.

Despite all of the humor, something Smith is great with, his underlying comments show a very real sentiment; “the GOAT is still the GOAT.”

Let that ring out for a moment. When an all-time Carolina Panther is this excited about a Buccaneers quarterback, you have to know that something positive is coming.

From how he looks in practice to how he is preparing for the season, Tom Brady is playing well enough at 44 (in the video) to cause a guy like Smith to watch in awe. That doesn’t happen often, and it shows that there is a lot to look forward to in 2022 if Brady can translate this level of play to the regular season and against real opponents.

This is great news for the Buccaneers as they look to add one last ring under Tom Brady. Hopefully all of those traits that stood out to Smith will stand out in the film during the regular season when it matters.
