The Buccaneers could bring back a former legend

This one might be a bit more realistic than Suh, but it isn’t going to make the “no smiling in football” crowd very happy.

Gerald McCoy is a free agent and in need of a new team. It just so happens that the team where he was at his best is in need of some veteran depth on the defensive line.

As much as the Bucs may love what they have with their starters on the defensive line and rookie Logan Hall, the room could always use more bodies that play at a high level to give Todd Bowles as many options as possible to get after the opposing quarterback.

Gerald McCoy would give the Bucs that chance on limited defensive reps.

This is another signing that would help the Buccaneers as much as it would help the player. McCoy needs a shot to land with a team after injuries derailed his career. It would also be nice to compete for a ring for the first time in his career.

The move works for both sides if they act quickly and hit the ground running as soon as possible.

McCoy might not be at a Pro Bowl level like he was earlier in his career, but no one should underestimate what he brings to the table as a depth option on a team that desperately needs it.
