After taking some time to think about Tom Brady stepping away from the Buccaneers for a few weeks, the story doesn’t line up with the actions as much as it should.

For those who have not yet heard, Tom Brady is taking a few weeks away from the Buccaneers due to personal reasons. The Bucs say that they knew this before training camp began and that this is a non-story.

The issue with this being the company line is that it doesn’t actually make any sense.

If the Buccaneers knew this was coming before camp began, why didn’t they get ahead of this?

One of two things is happening here, and neither really make sense or should be happening.

First, this was decided before camp like Todd Bowles said, and the Bucs chose to announce this strangely, in the middle of the week as joint practices began. The Bucs kept a tight lid on this why?

It would have been a much better choice to say that Brady was going to miss the time weeks ago and kill the story before it ever started.

Some might argue that this is a non-story, and while it might be in its truest form, the Bucs made it a story by handling it in this way.

The second reason is something to be less excited about. In this scenario, the Buccaneers didn’t know Brady was going to pull this and are now playing damage control. That is also not a great look for a team that is struggling to keep players healthy while eyeing another run at a Super Bowl.

One way or another, mistakes had been made to get to this point. The Buccaneers need to get their story straight before they proceed, but it doesn’t seem like many answers at the present moment are going to kill this story.

Don’t get it twisted-this isn’t a story because it is August and nothing is going on. This is a story because Tom Brady and the Buccaneers are not on the same page, and that isn’t a good sign.

light. Trending. Former Buccaneers with the best chance of returning to Tampa
