Ke’Shawn Vaughn has a lot riding on his upcoming performances. The Buccaneers will keep a close eye on how he looks in the preseason games.

The Buccaneers are about to see a very tight race at the running back position. Reps are on the line, and all eyes are turning to Ke’Shawn Vaughn and what his role will be in what looks like a stacked room.

Leonard Fournette is the obvious workhorse, Giovani Bernard is the veteran that can make a claim to being one of the best third-down backs in the league, and Rachaad White has turned a lot of heads in camp. Where does Vaughn fit? What will his job be?

These questions can’t be answered until we get to see a bit more of the play on the field.

While Vaughn looks like he should still fall as the third running back in terms of touches, he is going to face a long road ahead if he can’t turn his game around on the field.

The Buccaneers are looking for any reason to give more touches to guys like White and Bernard. Vaughn can’t give them those chances in these games with weaker competition. In fact, Vaughn should be averaging something near five yards per carry if he really wants to show that the Bucs have been misusing him for the past few years.

Vaughn has proven that he can show out in stretches-he just has to be able to show the team that he is the one that deserves reps over several other quality options. This is difficult, but it isn’t impossible.

One way or another, this game and the following weeks are going to play a large role in what Ke’Shawn Vaughn’s opportunities look like going forward.

Well all hope this will be a good one for his sake.
