Tom Brady to miss preseason time with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady is going to take some time away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a personal matter. This should have some impact on the team.
The Buccaneers had better hope that their power structure is about as solid as it comes.
While no one ever wants to see any of the star players take time away from the team during the preseason, Bucs fans may want to start getting used to the idea.
It has been reported by ESPN’s Tampa Bay correspondent Jenna Laine that Buccaneer quarterback Tom Brady will be away from the team handling a “personal matter” until after the Buccaneers August 20th preseason game against the Tennessee Titans.
As seen in the above tweet, this was pre-arranged by Brady and Head Coach Todd Bowles, and was likely a part of their preseason plans.
While we certainly with Brady the best in whatever matter he’s dealing with, we can also rest assured that if any QB can deal with some preseason time off, it is the GOAT.
While many offenses use the preseason as a time to see what they have, build chemistry with their QB and their skill position players, and implement new strategies……Tom Brady doesn’t necessarily need that. The Tampa Bay offense is pretty consistent…. Sure we lost Gronk, but Cameron Brate and Tom Brady got to work together last year, and the incoming rookie tight ends will still be learning the offensive playbook, scheme, and developing their role. Julio Jones was just signed, but based off of the news coming out of Bucs camp, Julio and Tom look like they are going to gel together just fine. Tom doesn’t need this area of the preseason to gel with Russell Gage, Julio, or Rachaad White. He’s the best to ever do it for a reason.
Aside from that, this is a chance to figure out what we have in quarterbacks for the post-Tom Brady era. Reports coming out of camp have been very hit or miss so far for Kyle Trask, so now is his chance to step up and prove he deserves a shot. August 20th is only 9 days from now, so I hope Trask realizes the opportunity that he has in front of him, because he needs to make these 9 days count to be a part of the organizations plans for the starting quarterback position in years moving forward.
