After what felt like months of saying the Buccaneers could go after former edge rusher Carl Nassib, the team finally pulled the trigger.

Carl Nassib has finally reunited with the Buccaneers. No one on the planet that ever reads this blog should be shocked that this was on the radar for the team that is looking to make it back to the Super Bowl.

The loss of Cam Gill was too much for the Bucs to overlook. The team needs someone who can step in on special teams while also being able to provide a veteran presence in a very young room. Nassib fit the bill in both areas.

The Bucs were smart to act quickly and snag the veteran pass rusher off the free agent market.

The former Buccaneer that has finally made his return was about to become a hot commodity. His most recent seasons with the Raiders were nothing crazy, but every team in the league would be happy to get a player that is such an effortless leader and able to step in where needed.

If the Bucs need someone who can contribute on special teams, Nassib is the guy. If Tampa needs a guy that can play starting reps as an edge defender if a bad injury happens, Nassib is probably already a better option than some of the other guys in the depth chart.

There were few moves that would be better for both the player and the team.

The details of the contract have not come out yet, but Bucs fans can rest assured that this deal is going to be as team-friendly as the last few.

The other thing fans can take away from this signing is that Cam Gill is likely projected to miss some time into the regular season. Only time will tell, but a move like this seems to indicate that bad news is coming on that front.

Either way, a well-liked player is coming back to Tampa, and Carl Nassib should be very excited to get his first chance at competing for a ring.
